Our Values

Building a Stronger Future Together

Welcome to the website of PPWC Local 15, representing over 200 workers at the Skookumchuck Pulp Mill in British Columbia. PPWC Local 15 is a proudly democratic union founded in 1969. Our constitution ensures our local is a participatory, bottom-up union where rank and file members, everyday workers, direct the activities and decision-making.

Workers Come First

A Commitment to Workers' Rights

Rooted in union democracy and solidarity, Local 15 exists to ensure that workers—not corporations or political insiders—have a real voice in decisions that affect their livelihoods, their families, and their future.

A Union Built on Democracy

The Local is led by a President, 1st and 2nd Vice-Presidents and a Treasurer, and all local officers are elected through a secret-ballot referendum by the membership. Rank-and-file members also have the constitutional right to recall any local officer at any time if they are dissatisfied with their performance. This emphasizes the union to operate on principles of democracy, with leaders being elected by and accountable to the membership.

This democratic foundation makes our union stronger. It empowers members to stand together, debate openly, and act collectively in pursuit of better wages, safer workplaces, and secure futures. Local 15 believes that when workers have control over their union, they have greater power at the bargaining table and greater confidence in the fight for fairness.

Get Involved — Make Your Union Stronger

Local 15 has established committees to handle specialized issues, such as Shop Stewards, Health and Welfare, Safety, and Environmental concerns. These committees ensure that decision making from the general membership leads to improving wages, benefits and working conditions through direct action and collective strength.

Your involvement makes Local 15 stronger. Whether you’re stepping into your first union meeting, joining a committee, or raising your voice on important issues, you are helping shape the direction of our union.

Welcome to the Public and Private Workers of Canada Local 15 — where working people shape their destiny and build a stronger tomorrow.
