We are back to the table with the Company next week to continue our bargaining.  We have met with the Joint Wage Caucus this past week.  Your Local and Joint Wage Caucus are committed to achieving a pattern agreement at Skookumchuck Pulp.

On the Local front, we have settled a couple of grievances with the Company and avoided arbitration.  We settled Supervisor doing hourly work in the Stores Department and the vacation pay grievance where our banked overtime taken earnings were not included in the calculation.  We will keep you updated on when the Company completes the review and when the retro payments can be expected.

We also have openings in our executive for members who are looking to become involved because of recent resignations.  Your Local needs a Recording Secretary, Trustee, Standing Committee Alternate and Contracting Out Committee Members.  Reach out to your Executive if you have questions about roles and responsibilities of the Executive positions.

As well, we are working on the paystubs and trying to develop a clearer and transparent paystub for the members.  I have met with the Mill Manager and communicated issues and concerns with the current paystub and provided suggestions for paycodes to clearly show hours and pay rates.  Keep bringing your issues forward to the Compmay and if there is no resolve to your pay, contact a shop steward and submit a grievance for the Union to address with management.

In Solidarity,

Mike Scott
President, PPWC Local 15
