Canada Day on July 1 is a time for reflection, pride, and celebration. It’s a day when families gather, communities come together, and we recognize the diverse, rich history of our country. But for those of us in the labour movement, Canada Day is also a time to honour the incredible contributions of working people who have built this nation from the ground up.
Unions have played a vital role in shaping Canada into a more just, compassionate, and equitable society. We celebrate public health care, strong public education, and social programs that reflect the values of fairness and dignity for all—values advanced by working people and their unions.
As we raise our flags and join in celebration, we also raise our voices for a better future—one where every worker is treated with respect, every family has what they need to thrive, and no one is left behind. Happy Canada Day from all of us who believe in the power of unions and the strength of working people.
