Join Us for a Screening Near You

Sierra Club BC has partnered with Cinema Politica for a Vancouver Island tour of the award-winning documentary film Silvicola. All screenings will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker, Jean-Philippe Marquis, forest ecologist Erik Piikkila, and local expert guest speakers.

The Film

Silvicola is a powerful film that profiles a wide range of forestry workers and lets them tell their own story. The beauty of the film is that it asks the audience to reflect on what is truly needed for a healthy forestry sector and forest wellbeing in B.C.

Why Now?

The way we talk about healthy forests and good long-term jobs in the forestry sector matters.

As B.C. residents head to the polls, it’s important to hear from forestry workers by bringing this powerful film into the heart of communities. After the film there will be a Q&A to talk about what is needed to transition to forest stewardship that respects ecological integrity, respects the rights of Indigenous Peoples and supports a diverse economy, including forestry jobs
